[1] No such meaning of the headword u(phre/sion is registered in LSJ s.v., where the senses given are cushion on a rower's bench, riding-pad or saddle-cloth, rowers' pay, and as an equivalent of u(phretiko\n ploi=on; cf. generally upsilon 415, upsilon 416. The sense here seems to derive from u(phre/ths "servant, attendant" (upsilon 432) where the connection with rowing (e)re/ths, e)re/ssein) has been forgotten.
