Adler number: rho,188
Translated headword: rhipsadageiron
Vetting Status: high
Translation:
[no gloss]
Greek Original:
*(riyadagei/rwn.
Notes:
A corrupt and impenetrable entry. Also (and likewise unglossed) in Photius rho131 Theodoridis and, as the even worse r(iyagadei/rwn, in the Synagoge (rho40). Porson's edition of Photius had applied word-division to produce the phrase r(iya/d' a)gei/rwn, but while the participle 'he collecting' (cf. alpha 211) is intelligible, a feminine noun r(iya/s (of which this would be the accusative singular) merely replaces one enigma with another.
Adler notes Bernhardy's suspicion that the toponym *gadei/rwn (genitive of gamma 7) is in there somewhere.
