The proverb [sc. occurs] in Cratinus.[1] Psyra is a poor and small island near Chios,[2] which cannot produce wine. So we utter the proverb in reference to people who are reclining at a symposium but not drinking. It has also been applied to [sc. other] things which display poverty.
