Headword: *pio/menon
Adler number: pi,1629
Translated headword: about to drink
Vetting Status: high
Translation:
[Meaning] to drink marrow.
Greek Original:
*pio/menon: muelo\n piei=n.
Note:
Clearly a faulty entry. The headword participle, masculine accusative singular and perhaps quoted from Lucian, True Histories 2.7 (a passage apparently noted by Thomas Magister), needs a more intelligible gloss than this, and according to Adler the Ambrosian Lexicon has one: me/llonta piei=n. (On pi/omai as the future of pi/nw, see under pi 1628.) No equivalent entry, otherwise, in earlier lexica, but cf. Eustathius on pi/on in Homer, Iliad 22.2.
