[Meaning an] utterance, saying.[1]
Sophocles [writes]: "but may Phoebus Apollo hold off from the Argives the saying." [i.e.] the sickness of Ajax.[2]
And elsewhere: "the report is false that Alexander has perished, if Phoebus [is] truthful. Not even Hades takes hold of the invincible."[3]
And elsewhere Sophocles [writes]: "when [she] hears the report." [Meaning] the saying.[4]
