Headword: *)ore/cei
Adler number: omicron,529
Translated headword: will reach out
Vetting Status: high
Translation:
[Used] with a dative.[1] [Meaning he/she/it] will give, will stretch out.[2]
Greek Original:
*)ore/cei: dotikh=|. dw/sei, e)ktenei=.
Notes:
The headword, evidently extracted from somewhere, is the future indicative active, third person singular (and future indicative middle, second person singular), of the verb o)re/gw, I stretch out, reach (for); cf. omicron 525, and see LSJ s.v. The aorist subjunctive active, third person singular, is yet another form of the headword verb. This last form also has an alternative spelling o)re/ch| which occurs at, among other instances, Homer, Iliad 5.33 (web address 1); this passage or its associated scholion (= D scholia) probably generated the entry.
Besides omicron 525, cf. generally omicron 524, omicron 526, omicron 527, omicron 528, omicron 530.
[1] For this grammatical note, Adler cites as comparanda Syntacticum Laurentianum and Syntacticum Gudianum.
[2] The glossing verb forms are the future indicative active, third person singular (and the future indicative middle, second person singular) of the verbs di/dwmi and e)ktei/nw (I give, grant and I stretch out, respectively); see LSJ s.vv; Timaeus, Platonic Lexicon s.v. o)re/cai; and Hesychius omicron1155 s.v. o)re/cei. The headword is similarly glossed in the Synagoge, Lexica Segueriana 320.4, and Photius' Lexicon (omicron454 Theodoridis); these other lexica, however, transmit e)ktei/nei, a present indicative or aorist subjunctive form, as the second gloss; Theodoridis notes that the Suda contributor made the necessary correction himself (suo Marte).
