Headword: *meth/|ei
Adler number: mu,786
Translated headword: went after, went too late (?)
Vetting Status: high
Translation:
[Meaning he/she/it] is too late or misses a share.
Greek Original:
*meth/|ei: a)fusterei= h)\ a)potugxa/nei klh/rou.
Note:
This entry is not found elsewhere in lexicography. The imperfect tense of the headword (from me/teimi, 'I go after, pursue') is glossed by present tenses and with meanings that do not belong to it. The word probably derives from a copyist's error in transcribing the correct gloss of metalagxa/nein at the beginning of Plato's Gorgias, mete/xein ('to participate'). See the fuller notes at mu 699, the entry from which this entry is surely copied.
