In fact a city. Briefly mentioned by Strabo 12.8.12 and Stephanus of Byzantium s.v. (who cites Hellanicus), it lay on the Tembrios (Tembris, Thymbris, present-day Porzuk), the tributary that runs eastward into the Sangarios at Gordion (L. Zgusta, Kleinasiatische Ortsnamen (Heidelberg 1984) 382). It is to be distinguished from the archaeological site near the present-day village Yazilikaya, baptized 'Midas City' by William Ramsay in 1888 because of its important Midas Monument. For the geography of the Phrygian highlands south of the Tembrios and bibliography see mu 1109 'Miros'.
