Headword: *lh/qhn kunw=n
Adler number: lambda,415
Translated headword: forgetfulness of dogs (?)
Vetting Status: high
Translation:
[Meaning] of drugs that cause forgetfulness.[1]
"Laying aside forgetfulness of their rash deeds."[2] Meaning [forgetfulness] of having become rash men.
Greek Original:
*lh/qhn kunw=n: lh/qhn e)mpoiou/ntwn farma/kwn. tw=n tetolmhme/nwn sfi/si lh/qhn kataxe/antes. a)nti\ tou= tolmhti/ai geno/menoi.
Notes:
[1] Same gloss in Photius lambda241, where Theodoridis' edition indicates a corruption in the headword. (Certainly what has been transmitted as the genitive plural kunw=n is very hard to make sense of). See also ps.-Zonaras 1305 s.v. lhqedano\n fa/rmakon: to\ lh/qhn e)mpoi=oun. For the present entry Theodoridis attractively proposes lhqhke/wn on the basis of Hesychius lambda809.
[2] Aelian fr. 50c Domingo-Forasté (47 Hercher); already, more fully, at epsilon 1015 (q.v.).
