The headword is a perfect participle -- here in the genitive plural, from the quotation given - of the verb kaqi/sthmi (for which see also kappa 53, kappa 54, kappa 56, kappa 57, kappa 58, kappa 113, kappa 114, kappa 115).
[1] Agathias, Histories 1.5 (p.15 l.17 Keydell); cf. Constantine VII Porphyrogenitus, De legationibus p.438 l.22. In late 552 CE, the young Frankish king Theudebald (PLRE IIIb s.v. Theodebaldus(1)) was approached by an embassy of Ostrogoths living north of the River Padus (the modern-day Po, see pi 19), proposing that the Franks align themselves militarily with the Goths to oppose Roman domination in Italy. The quotation describes the attitude toward the embassy of the other Italian Goths who did not directly support the delegation, but still took a keen interest in upsetting the established order; cf. Frendo (13).
