[3] Greek Anthology 7.195.7-8 (addressed to a grasshopper). On this epigram, in which Meleager [Author, Myth] elaborates upon a common theme, see Gow and Page, vol. I (219-220), vol. II (615-616), and another excerpt at mu 1135. The phrase sto/masi sxizome/nas is problematic ("divided by the mouths"), and Gow and Page (vol. II (615)) deem it to be "unintelligible". Here the translation adopts Paton's rendering (110-111), which follows the Anthologia Palatina in reading the dative singular (sto/mati); cf. Gow and Page (vol. I, 220).
