The present headword is glossed by Hesychius (epsilon132) as i)ou=gon, i.e. Latin iugum, a land-measurement. It might be a variant spelling of e)/ggaion, which itself has the variant e)/ggeion (epsilon 55), although this word does not seem to be attested for a measurement.
