Headword: *eu)hro/taton
Adler number: epsilon,3479
Translated headword: most easily plowed, very easily plowed
Vetting Status: high
Translation:
[Meaning] that which has fine land, the beauteousness of the land.
Greek Original:
*eu)hro/taton: to\ kalh\n e)/xon gh=n, to\ ka/llimon th=s gh=s.
Notes:
The headword is the neuter singular nominative/accusative superlative form of this adjective (for the positive form see epsilon 3480), glossed with two substantive phrases. But the word occurs only in lexicography: here, in Hesychius epsilon6853, and (according to Adler) in the Ambrosian Lexicon. Richard Bentley (1662-1742) opined that the superlative should be eu)hrotw/taton, but noted that with such a correction the entry would be out of alphabetical order.
For 'beauteousness' cf. kappa 230.
