[1] Adler cites as a source for the Syntactical appendix to the Lexicon Gudianum, but there seems to be no similar entry there.
[2] A very similar quotation occurs at upsilon 209, where the participle is u(peciou=sa ('slipping out from') rather than e)peciou=sa and occurs at the end of the phrase rather than the beginning. Adler notes at upsilon 209 that the quotation was attributed to Aelian by Valckenaer, but she herself prefers Symeon Metaphrastes.
