Headword: Διεσπαθηκότα
Adler number: delta,962
Translated headword: having squandered away
Vetting Status: high
Translation:
[Meaning] having thrown away.
Greek Original:
Διεσπαθηκότα: διερριφότα.
Notes:
The headword is the perfect active participle, either masculine accusative singular or neuter nominative/accusative plural, of the verb διασπαθάω . Evidently quoted from somewhere, it occurs in this precise form here only, but cf. διεσπαθικότα: διερριφότα in Photius, Lexicon delta555.
For the present infinitive see Hesychius delta1325, with the gloss ἀσελγῶς ἀναλίσκειν ; cf. Plutarch, Cicero 27.6 (πολλὰ τῆς οὐσίας διασπαθήσας ).
The form διασπαθίζω is attested in Johannes Laurentius Lydus, De magistratibus populi Romani 2.19 (passive at 1.36).
cf. also epsilon 3177.
