An attested meaning of the word
dia/foros (see LSJ s.v., II.4.a), but there are no examples in
Thucydides. Either, therefore, the name is wrong (and should instead be e.g.
Demosthenes) or else a passage of
Thucydides such as 6.62.2 has been misinterpreted, or -- as Theodoridis on
Photius s.v. suggests -- the name belongs with
delta 833 (q.v.).
