[2] Greek Anthology 7.203.1-2 (but in line 2 read instead h)xh/essan i(/hs gh=run "you send forth your echoing voice"). This epigram, attributed to Simias, is an epitaph for a decoy partridge; cf. Gow and Page (vol. I, 177), (vol. II, 512), and another extract at beta 82. As mentioned by Xenophon (Memorabilia 2.1.4, web address 2), fowlers used tamed quails and partridges to attract other birds during a hunt.
