Headword: *dih/|rhsai
Adler number: delta,1017
Translated headword: you have been (?)misled
Vetting Status: high
Translation:
[Meaning] you have been bound.
Greek Original:
*dih/|rhsai: de/desai.
Notes:
The headword verb as transmitted is dih|/rhsai, i.e. second person singular, perfect middle/passive, of diaire/w (cf. delta 883, delta 1014, delta 1015). But in Hesychius (delta1763) this same gloss accompanies dih/rthsai, from diarta/w. For that verb see delta 736 and especially delta 737, citing Menander for its mislead/deceive sense; cf. also delta 1022.
The connection between headword and gloss is less than self-evident even so.
