Translated headword: Aitolian, Aetolian; owl
Vetting Status: high
Translation:
[no gloss]
Greek Original:
*ai)tw/lios.
Note:
Without a gloss the import of this entry is unclear. It is most probably, in upper case, 'Aitolian/Aetolian', a rare variant of alphaiota 381 which occurs (applied to Diomedes [Author, Myth]) in Homer, Iliad 4.399; but lower-case ai)tw/lios is a falsa lectio for ai)gw/lios (a species of owl) in one of its appearances in Aristotle's History of Animals (563a31).
