A possible alternative is to take strathgi/as as accusative plural rather than genitive singular and thus as direct object: "seeing to generalships of affairs". For this cf. Josephus, Antiquities of the Jews 12.63: deino\s de\ w)\n sunidei=n pragma/twn pantodapw=n fu/sin. However, "generalships" in such a loose, figurative sense is hard to parallel.]
