Headword: *au)rhliano/s
Adler number: alpha,4458
Translated headword: Aurelian, Aurelianus, Aurelianos
Vetting Status: high
Translation:
Emperor of the Romans, a man who had awesome skill in the arts of war, but being undisciplined in his thinking and inclining markedly toward savagery, he submitted many of the notables in the city to the death penalty for being disgraced by Zenobia.[1] He was by nature stubborn and murderous, and more a forcible general than an elected emperor, and, being harsh and unapproachable in every situation, he did not remain clean even of the blood of his own family: for he did away with the wife of his son without due process. But of the discipline of the soldiers and their vanishing and corrupt morals he was overall a genuine restorer.
See the oracle about him under "If he should suffer".[2]
