He attended the classes of Pausanias[3] and Hippodromus,[4] and enjoyed prolonged eminence as a sophist in Rome.

Ἀσπάσιος, Δημητριανοῦ τοῦ κριτικοῦ μαθητὴς, Ῥαβενναῖος, σοφιστὴς, γεγονὼς ἐπὶ Ἀλεξάνδρου τοῦ Μαμαίας. Πρὸς τοὺς φιλο- λοιδόρους καὶ Πρὸς Ἀρίστωνα λόγους διαφόρους. ἠκροάσατο δὲ Παυσανίου καὶ Ἱπποδρόμου καὶ ἐσοφίστευσεν ἐν Ῥώμῃ, διαπρέψας μέχρι πολλοῦ.
