Note:
Artemis Laphria (cf. beta 26 and beta 37, from one or the other of which the present entry derives) was worshipped at Patrai, in Achaia, during the festival known as the Laphria. During the ceremonies a priestess would enter in a procession in a chariot pulled by deer. The holocaust sacrifice included wild animals which were not usually sacrificed, such as deer, boar and wolves. See Pausanias 7.18.8-13 (web address 1).
