Headword: Ἁμάρτη
Adler number: alpha,1494
Translated headword: would miss the mark, would sin
Vetting Status: high
Translation:
[Used] with genitive and [= or] with dative. Aorist subjunctive.[1] But ἁμαρτῇ ["at once"] [is] an adverb.
But ἁμαρτάνω [is used] with a dative.[2]
Greek Original:
Ἁμάρτη: γενικῇ καὶ δοτικῇ. αὐθυπότακτον: Ἁμαρτῇ δὲ ἐπίρρημα. Ἁμαρτάνω δὲ δοτικῇ.
Notes:
Likewise, according to Adler, in two entries of the Ambrosian Lexicon.
[1] Of ἁμαρτάνω -- but it needs an iota subscript, which, as transmitted, it does not have here. In any event, quoted here from somewhere; the possibilities are numerous.
[2] Rarely, in fact: see LSJ s.v.
Keywords: dialects, grammar, and etymology; ethics
