The Athenians had two swift warships in service, the Paralos and the Salaminia. Of these the Salaminia used to bring accused men to trial; she was sent to fetch Alkibiades, according to Thucydides.[1] The Paralos, by contrast, used to transport festival delegations, that is things being sent for sacrifice.
