[Meaning] after/when it had sounded. Homer [writes]: "self-moving roared the gates of heaven, which the Hours had in their keeping".[1] And in the Epigrams: "after it [sc. a drum] had roared heavily, the boldest of animals [i.e. the lion] ran away faster than a deer".[2]

Mukêsantos: êchêsantos. Homêros: automatai de pulai mukon ouranou, has echon Hôrai. kai en Epigrammasi: hou baru mukêsantos, ho tharsaleôteros allôn tetrapodôn elaphôn edramen oxuteron.
Notes:
The headword is the aorist active participle, masculine or neuter genitive singular, of the (usually middle) verb muka/omai; presumably from the second quotation given here. For this verb see also mu 1399.
