Translation: Whenever those prosecuting [sc. in Athenian lawsuits] take their oath, [swearing] that they are prosecuting truthfully, this [is called the] diwmosi/a; but whenever those being prosecuted swear the same oath, in their effort to clear themselves of the charges, this [is called the] a)ntwmosi/a [literally: oath in reply].[1]
*diippasi/a and a)nippasi/a [are terms meaning] a race/contest for horses; just like, of course, diwmosi/a and a)ntwmosi/a both denote the same thing.[2]
