Headword: Athamantidês
Adler number: alpha,701
Translated headword: Athamantides
Vetting Status: high
Translation:
A patronymic.
Greek Original:
Athamantidês: patrônumikon.
Note:
Same entry, according to Adler, in the Ambrosian Lexicon 713. The headword is otherwise unattested in this precise form, as opposed to Athamantiades (in Hesiod, Pindar and elsewhere). Either way it means "son of Athamas"; that is, Phrixos, who features with his sister Helle (eponym of the Hellespont) in the story of the Golden Fleece. For this see alpha 702.
