Translation:
[Son] of Omphale[1] and Herakles. He became great and strong and noble in war.
Greek Original:
Alkaios: Omphalês kai Hêrakleous. egeneto megas kai ischuros kai ta polemia gennaios.
Notes:
For other individuals of this name see alpha 1273 and alpha 1274. Quite a common name in mythology: see also Apollodorus, Library 2.4.5. (A. the son of Perseus and Andromeda) and 2.5.9 (A. the son of Androgeos). However, the one in question here, as we see, is a figure in the royal genealogy of Lydia. The Suda's material is unparalleled elsewhere, but Paradiso [below] marshals linguistic and other evidence for regarding its ultimate source as Nicolaus of Damascus.
[1] Queen of Lydia; OCD(4) s.v. (pp.1038-9).
