[3] Greek Anthology 6.306.2 (here with the adjective garbled, attributed to Ariston), kitchen utensils dedicated to Hermes by the cook Spinther upon his manumission; cf. Gow and Page, (vol. I, 42-43); (vol. II, 110-111); epsilon 3325; and further excerpts from this epigram at alpha 4064, beta 34, theta 539, mu 11, pi 3007, tau 73, tau 74, chi 620, and omega 294. Gow and Page follow (vol. I, 42) the Anthologia Palatina (AP) in reading e)tnodo/non (accusative singular of e)tnodo/nos, soup-stirring), while the Anthologia Planudea transmits e)tnodo/kon, and the AP scribe designated C (the Corrector) reads e)tnodo/ton. This phrase is to also be found in Greek Anthology 6.305.6 (Leonidas of Tarentum), a fictional dedication of cooking tools by a glutton named Dorieus; cf. Gow and Page (vol. I, 125), (vol. II, 364-366), and further excerpts from this epigram at epsilon 3325 and kappa 1871. Little is known of Ariston, except that he is a follower and imitator of the Tarentine; cf. Gow and Page (vol. II, 109-110).
