[This is said] because anger [qumo/s] [is] sharp and short-lived; but wrath [o)rgh/] [is] slower but more lasting. So [the Psalmist] called the long-lasting punishment "anger of wrath."[1]
In reference to God, [Scripture] calls the bitter retributions wrath and anger and affliction. For it does not say that [evil] is the nature or will [of the avenging angels].[2]
