'Grain' is also[3] the name for the revenue assigned for nourishment to women or orphans [sc. in classical Athens], as it is possible to learn both from the first axon of Solon[4] and from Aristotle’s Constitution of the Athenians.[5] Timachidas thinks that among Attic speakers interest was called 'grain,' but he thinks wrongly.[6]
