[Kotys] was a man noteworthy in appearance and outstanding in military matters, besides being entirely unlike a Thracian in spirit;[1] for he had turned out discreet and displayed the mildness and gravitas of a gentleman.

Polybius 27.12; cf. Diodorus Siculus 30.3, which is based on it. This Kotys is evidently a descendant (C2 BCE) of kappa 2173: see Walbank 310.
