Konisalos: koniortos. ê Konisalos, daimôn Priapôdês: ek tou mê oknein kai epi koneôs mignusthai. kai Konisaleos.
Notes:
[1] Literally "dust-stirring". The term is Homeric, e.g. Homer, Iliad 3.13; see the scholia there.
[2] Aristophanes, Lysistrata 982 (a term applied to the Spartan herald who has just arrived: "what are you, man or konisalos?"). The etymological derivation is cited from the scholia there.
[3] Antimachus fr. 39 Wyss. The term is cited by Herodian several times (e.g. De prosodia catholica p. 114 Lentz) and Hesychius. Note that its accent is mistakenly normalised as konisale/os in LSJ; the word's exceptional accentuation is noted in rho 242.
