Notes:
The headword -- the present indicative (and subjunctive), third person singular, of the contracted verb koma/w (see LSJ s.v.) -- literally means lets the hair grow long, but there are metaphorical usages, which the Suda covers here. See also kappa 1995.
[1] To this point the entry is the same as Synagoge kappa392, except that the latter glosses megalofronei=; cf. Photius, Lexicon kappa912 Theodoridis, Lexica Segueriana 280.23, Hesychius s.v. koma=|, and the scholia to Aristophanes, Wasps 1317, where koma=|s occurs (web address 1).
[2] This seems to be paraphrased (so Adler) from the scholia to Aristophanes, Plutus [Wealth] 170, where the headword occurs (web address 2).
[3] Aristophanes, Knights 580 (web address 3): the chorus leader asks this favor should peace come from the knights' service in battle; cf. delta 572.
[4] The remainder of the entry is quoted from the scholia to Aristophanes, Knights 580 (cf. n.3).
