[3] A military writer of the C1 BCE (see generally OCD(4) p.180) -- but this word is not used in what survives of him. Probably a corruption of the passage quoted at eta 450 (see preceding note), where a certain Asklepiades is said to be th\n *ai)gupti/wn sofi/an dahmone/steros -- "rather knowledgeable," or perhaps "more knowledgeable," sc. than Heraiskos.
