The son of Democharis or of Caustrobius, from Proconnesos,[1] an epic poet; [he wrote] the verses called the Arimaspea; it is a history of the Hyperborean Arimaspeans,[2] [in] 3 books. They say that whenever he wanted, his soul would leave and return again. He lived in the time of Croesus and Cyrus, in the fiftieth Olympiad.[3] This man also wrote a prose Theogony, in 1000 lines.
