Notes:
The headword, presumably extracted from the first quotation given, is present participle (feminine genitive singular) of prutaneu/w. For this verb see also pi 2991, pi 2992, pi 2994, pi 2995.
[1] Procopius, History of the Wars of Justinian 8.11.14 (web address 1); during the Lazic War (541-562) in 551 CE, the Romans under general Bessas (cf. PLRE II s.v.) attempt to undermine the circuit-wall of the Persian garrison at Petra (cf. alpha 906 note) with a trench, but their excavations are limited by hard rock outcroppings; cf. Kaldellis (484).
[2] Quotation (using the future infinitive of the same verb) unidentifiable. Adler notes that Roos attributed it to Arrian but did go as far as to include it in the fragments. Jacoby attempted a reconstruction in his commentary to FGrH 156 F34.
