This is intended as an example of design and pseudocode, NOT as a tutorial on how to use Notepad.

The problem is: creating a document using Notepad under Windows that contains your name and address in a mailing label format and save it under the filename "me.dat" on the floppy.

Design Level 1

Starting assumptions:

Assume you know how to double click, how to type, how to spell
your name and address, how to use a mouse

Assume you are starting at the Windows desktop

1.  start the Notepad program
2.  type in my name
3.  type in my street address
4.  type in my city, state and zip code
5.  click on File
6.  click on Save
7.  type in me.dat
8.  click the ok button


Now give more detail Design Level 2

1.  start the Notepad program
1.1  IF the notepad icon is visible on the screen, doubleclick it 
1.2	else if the symbol is visible on the taskbar, click it
1.3	else use the Start button to run Notepad

2.  type in my name
2.1  type in the letters in my name 
2.2  press the enter key at the end of the line
2.3  proofread and make corrections if necessary

3.  type in my street address
3.1  type in the letters in my address 
3.2  press the enter key at the end of the line
3.3  proofread and make corrections if necessary

4.  type in my city, state and zip code
4.1  type in my city
4.2  type a comma and a space
4.3  type in my state
4.4  type two spaces
4.5  type in zip code
4.6  press enter
4.7  proofread and make corrections if necessary

5.  click on File menu choice
6.  click on Save menu choice
7.  type in me.dat
7.1 click on Location and choose A: 3.5 floppy

8.  click the ok button

Design Level 3 for steps that seem to need it
