Graduation - May 2007
Apply before February 8, 2007 for May Graduation!
There are only a few things that you need to do in order to get out of here with a BS in Engineering with a major in Computer Science.
1. You need to be admitted. I assume that that has already happened or you wouldn't be reading this.
2. You need to attain Engineering Standing. This is accomplished by completing a set of prescribed courses with a grade point average, in those courses, of at least 2.5. We ask you to send Prof. Jaromczyk a note jurek@cs.uky.edu saying that you have completed the necessary courses and that you want him to evaluate your transcript. He will get back with you in a few days with questions or notification that you have been moved to Engineering Standing.
3. Fill out, and turn in, an Intent to Graduate form (not available online, please pick one up from the Dean's Office on the 3rd floor of RGAN). This notifies the College to check your records and place your name on the list of graduating seniors. It also becomes an order for the university to print a diploma and submit your name to the Board of Trustees for approval for graduation. Yes, you have to pass those last few courses, have a total of 128 credit hours, satisfy the University and CS requirements, and keep your grade point average up to at least a 2.0. You must turn this in to Ms. Rosie Hicks in the Engineering College Student Records Office (375 RGAN) before February 8, 2007 for a May graduation. Don't be late! Do it during preregistration the semester before you graduate!
4. You need to have a Plan Sheet. This is a formal agreement between the CS Department and you of exactly what courses will be used to satisfy your graduation requirements. We are using the advising check sheets for this purpose and will submit a signed copy to the Dean's office. When you submit your Intent to Graduate send Prof. Jaromczyk an e-mail note asking that a plan sheet be sent down. If you don't do this Ms. Hicks will prompt us, but it will save her a lot of trouble if you prompt us. Be sure to check on your progress to graduation with your advisor. If you do e-mail advising you can pick up a copy of the advising plan sheet from Ms. Wells.
5. After graduation root for the Wildcats, have a fulfilling and exciting career in computing, make lots of money, and remember the University, College, and Department fondly. Let us know where you are and what you are doing. E-mail diane@cs.uky.edu and donations are always welcomed.
