CS 538 (same as MA-538) - Numerical Analysis II

Credits: 3

Course Description

A continuation of CS/EGR/MA 537. Roots of a nonlinear equation and minimization of a function of a single variable. Linear difference equations. Numerical methods for ordinary differential equations: initial value problems, and elementary techniques for two-point boundary value problems.

Prereqs: A grade of B or better in CS/MA 321 or CS/EGR/MA 537 or equivalent.

This course has not been offered in at least the last 10 years and should be dropped. It is not a required course in the Computer Science curriculum. Were it offered undergraduate CS majors could use it as a technical elective and a detailed course description would be produced at that time.
